Coaches
we are looking to continue building on a team of great chemistry with players that have that competitive drive, positive attitude, desire to grow individually and contribute to the success of a team while having fun!
ABOUT COACH SHAWNA: I grew up as a competitive multi‐sport athlete and played soccer both as a kid and now an adult. I coached several years of youth girl’s soccer when my daughter (Hannah) was younger between the ages of U7 and U12, then took some time off and had the pleasure of watching her as a parent. In May of 2016 I returned to coaching and the Panthers team was born! *My style of coaching is to create a positive, engaging and energetic environment. My goal is to build confidence increasing the girl’s technical skills while also encouraging them to understand the strategic side of the game, helping create awareness and independent decision‐making. I also enjoy continuous education; always looking for ways to do things better, currently pursuing my U.S. Soccer National D License. I love the game of soccer and am an incredibly passionate and competitive person with a lot of positive energy. I find it very rewarding to coach girls of this age that love to play soccer and are eager to learn, compete and have fun! ABOUT COACH SEAN: I have coached youth soccer for five years at the U6 to U12 age group and was the assistant coach last year on Panthers. I focus on balancing fun with player skill development and want the team to play at a competitive level while maintaining a passion for the game. Coaching Philosophy: ▪
To foster a positive environment and help build confidence
Tem Culture and Player Expectations: ▪
"Don't compare your results to someone else's. You can never be another person, you can only be a better version of yourself".

▪
Encourage each other ‐ if you like it when your teammate cheers you
on, chances are they like it too!
Our approach to Player Development is centered on a combination of the U.S. Women's National Team Curriculum and U.S. Soccer Curriculum specific for our girl’s age group. Some key areas of focus are: ▪
Technique – Establishing a strong solid base (dribbling, receiving, passing, turning, shielding, shooting, heading, trapping, tackling)
Approach to Training
▪
and Player
Tactical – Understanding of attacking and defending principals / Encourage independent thinking and decision making under pressure
Development
▪
Physical Training – Done with a ball, a partner, hurdles, ladders and fun and engaging activities (flexibility, agility, speed, strength, endurance and balance)
▪
Psychological – Increase self confidence, maintain the enjoyment of the game
With regards to training, we will be bringing in outside coaches/trainers to provide the girls with specialized training throughout the year. (And to give them a break from Shawna and Sean ☺) This will include goalkeeper training, individual ball handling/skill set training and customized group team training. Competitiveness: ▪
We will train to play at the highest level of competition that is both challenging and rewarding.
▪
league we will plan to play Division 1 Red or Premier Silver
Expectations for Competitiveness and Playing Time
We will enter in to summer tournaments in the Silver bracket and for fall
Our goal for playing time and positions: ▪
Playing time ‐ the goal is that every player plays half the game, however the minimum play time will be a third of the game.
▪
Positions – to help foster growth and development, our goal is that players get comfortable with both an attacking and defending position. During competition we will play to win and girls will be positioned where as a "team" we are the strongest.
