Grafton School District Academic & Career Planning (ACP) Scope and Sequence
ACP is a component of the Grafton School District 6-12 Comprehensive School Counseling Model that strives to meet the social/emotional, academic and career planning needs of all students. The focus of ACP is on the process to build relationships that inform, support and mentor students through activities and experiences that help them to plan for their educational, training and career goals.

Students know: ● State, public, private, vocational, and military options ● Different career clusters and pathways that match their interests, skills and strengths ● Requirements and courses of study needed for their future plans ● Where they can go to receive the education and training they need to pursue their career interest
PLAN Students in the Grafton School District possess knowledge of the resources necessary to reach their postsecondary goals.
Students have: ● Set academic, career, and personal/social goals ● Joined clubs and extracurricular activities ● A plan to either pay for college tuition or support themselves with gainful employment ● An understanding of the college/job application process ● Written a resume ● Met the requirements and courses of study needed for their future plans Financial Literacy ● Financial Literacy

Students have completed the necessary steps to engage in the post-secondary option of their choice - recalculating as needed. Students have: ● Met the requirements of college entrance (grades, courses of study and entrance exams) ● Developed a plan that details the post-secondary steps needed to reach their future goals (ie: sequence of courses) ● Applied to at least one postsecondary institution, job, or the military consistent with the application requirements and deadlines
In collaboration between schools, community partners, and families, students who KNOW who they are, EXPLORE where they want to go in life, and have a PLAN of how to get there demonstrate the following 21st Century skills to GO out and reach their postsecondary goals: - time management and organizational skills - open to critical feedback and ability to use that feedback - clear and convincing oral and written expression - critical thinking skills - open to possible failure (growth mindset) - analytical thinking skills - ability to weigh sources for importance and credibility - problem solving skills - inquisitive nature - can draw inferences and reach conclusions independently - use of technology to assist learning - a positive self-esteem - effective interaction and communication with others - self-management skills
