Digital Literacy Scope & Sequence, Core Skills – UWCSEA Dover :: June 2015

Scope & Sequence of Information & Communications Technology (ICT) Skills This document attempts to answer the question of what to teach & when. However, because students should learn skills on an as-needed basis, this chart is not intended for planning. The chart then ideally reflects the skills students learned in the previous year. The chart serves as a review of skills learned previously, not as a guideline for the future. When a teacher wants to know whether a new class has practised a particular computer skill, this chart helps to provide an answer. The chart is based on ISTE's National Educational Technology Standards for students (NETS•S); it is a review & reflection tool, not a prescriptive plan. It is expected that each grade pay attention to at least meeting the standards annually, so that students develop technology proficiency over time. Throughout the year, DLCs will help grades to keep a track of the skills introduced, developed or mastered at each grade level. Each grade level should expose students to new skills & new technologies, so that students build competencies with various applications. Skills move from Introduction > Developing > Mastery. Generally the left most dot ! indicates Introduction, the right most dot indicates mastery, & is then implied on upwards from there.

Multimedia: Text, Image & Video (incl. Keyboarding & Word Processing) Standard 1: Creativity & Innovation Students demonstrate creative thinking, construct knowledge, & develop innovative products & processes using technology. Students: a. b.
