In late November 2017, the North Cedar Fire Department announced that it would be seeking Superior Shuttle Tanker Accreditation through a formal water flow test with oversight by the Fire Underwriters Survey (FUS). We are very pleased to report that the department was successful in meeting the minimum water flow required to obtain the accreditation. So what does this mean? Property owners that are within five (5) km of an approved water supply (fire hydrant), are now eligible for hydrant equivalency and may qualify for a reduction in fire insurance costs from insurance providers. While this is great news, not all properties are within the 5km parameter and we are continuing to work on this project by having additional water supplies designated as approved through the FUS. Please check with your insurance provider to see if you benefit from the accreditation. Thanks NCFD
