The fire hydrant meter shall be, and remain the property of the Shirley Water District (the District) and may not be assigned or subleased by Guarantor, nor shall the Guarantor allow the use of the fire hydrant meter by any other party. The Guarantor shall utilize the fire hydrant meter only within the boundaries of the District. Said meter shall be installed and removed by an authorized District Employee. Using a District fire hydrant meter on another water system constitutes theft of service from that water system and applicable legal charges may be filed by that water system.
Security Deposit of Fire Hydrant Meter & Backflow Preventer Initials Prior to installation, the appropriate security deposit shall be submitted with the Rental Agreement. This deposit is for security for return and safe keeping of the fire hydrant meter & backflow preventer. The Guarantor shall deposit with the Shirley Water District an amount of $1,700.00 for a 2-1/2” meter and/or $500.00 for a 5/8”-1” meter.
Damage to Meter, Backflow Preventer or Fire Hydrant Initials In the event the fire hydrant meter, backflow preventer or fire hydrant is damaged, destroyed or stolen during the term of this Agreement, the District shall be entitled to deduct from the deposit the cost of any damage to the fire hydrant meter, backflow preventer or hydrant or the value of replacement of the same. In the event the fire hydrant meter or backflow preventer is lost or stolen during the term of this Agreement, the Guarantor forfeits all of the security deposit. Any additional charges not covered by the security deposit shall be billed to the Guarantor.
Rates Initials All water utilized by the Guarantor shall be taken through the fire hydrant meter, and shall be paid for by the Guarantor at a rate of $10.00 per 1,000 gallons. A minimum charge of $10.00 per day will be charged, regardless if water is used or not. In addition to the metered usage, a $50.00 per day charge will be billed to the Guarantor for hydrant usage.
Billing Initials The Guarantor shall notify the District when metered hydrant is no longer required. The Guarantor shall be billed at the rate as described above. Payment shall be paid by the Guarantor thirty (30) days from the date of invoice. Interest and late fees shall be charged to the Guarantor if the Guarantor shall fail to pay by the stated bill date.
Waste of Water Initials All hoses and devices used on the outlet side of the meter must be in good working order as to prevent leakage and water waste from the fire hydrant. Failure to keep hoses and devices in good working order will result in the meter being removed from the job site.
