THE SOUTH JERSEY HOLOCAUST COALITION PRESENTS THE FOLLOWING WORKSHOP
REVISITING THE HOLOCAUST AND WWII What factors and forces may have led Germany, one of Europe’s most advanced countries, to follow Adolf Hitler, plunge the country into war and commit the atrocities of the Holocaust? This workshop will explore those questions and will examine the history of the early 20th century, highlighting the main factors that lead to the atrocities of the Holocaust. A few of the discussion points for the workshop include: • What caused the German economy to experience hyper-inflation? • What role did the Treaty of Versailles play? • How did militant political factions lead to the rise of Nazism? • What was eugenics and how did it become a part of Nazi ideology? • What was the Völkisch Movement and how was it adopted by the Nazis? Through interaction with PowerPoint, film and readings, participants should come away with a greater understanding of the Holocaust and WWII.
