Student Internet Permission Form Homeroom Teacher____________________________ In order to prepare our students for the global 21st century workplace, we embrace online tools for learning as a means to teach our students strong communication skills, collaboration skills, creative thinking and digital citizenship. Parents of high school students do not need to return this form unless they wish to deny internet access. Please only select one box: ❏ I grant permission (check box) for my student to access the internet and Google Apps for Education. ❏ I deny permission (check box) for my child to have access to Google Apps for Education. By denying access to Google Apps for Education, I understand that this choice could impact my child’s educational experience in the classroom. My child will still be allowed internet access. ❏ I deny permission (check box) for my child to have access to the internet, which includes Google Apps for Education. This does not include state‐mandated testing and specific district required sites. The Duluth Public Schools will assume your child has your permission to use the Internet at school unless this letter is returned to your child's school. Additional Information The Duluth Public Schools utilizes Google Apps for Education for students, teachers and staff. The following services are available to each student and hosted by Google as part of Duluth Public Schools’ online presence in Google Apps for Education: Email ‐ All students will receive an individual email account managed by the Duluth Public Schools for educational use Calendar ‐ an individual calendar providing the ability to organize schedules, daily activities and assignments Docs ‐ a suite of tools that includes word processing, spreadsheet, drawing and presentation tools very similar to Microsoft Office Other Apps ‐ tools that allow students to create concept maps, edit original videos and other production and creation applications used as directed by the classroom teacher For more information please visit http://www.google.com/enterprise/apps/education/ Using these tools, students can collaborate, create, edit and share files for school related projects and communicate via email with teachers and other students.
