The Gingerbread Boy With a Twist ! Reader’s Theater
Narrator: One day a little old lady made a Gingerbread Boy. Little Old Lady: I will mix some dough in my bowl with a spoon and make a Gingerbread Boy! Narrator: So she added some ginger, sugar, flour, and eggs to her bowl to make the dough for her cookie.
Little Old Lady: Now I will roll the dough I made and cut out a perfect Gingerbread Boy. I will give him two raisins for the eyes, some cherries for his buttons, and add a little frosting for hair. Narrator: Then the Little Old Lady put the Gingerbread Boy into the oven to bake. Gingerbread Boy: Hey, it’s hot in here!!
Narrator: The Little Old Man came in from outside and walked into the kitchen. Little Old Man: Mmmmm, what smells so good? I will just take a peek inside the oven to see what is baking. Narrator: So the Little Old Man opened the oven door and…out popped the Gingerbread Boy.
Gingerbread Boy: Wow! Thank you for opening that door. It was hot in that place. Little Old Man: Wait! Where are you going? Gingerbread Boy: I am off to see the world outside. Narrator: And out the door he ran. Gingerbread Boy: I’m so happy, I’m filled with joy! You won’t catch me I’m the Gingerbread Boy.
Narrator: Now the Little Old Lady and the Little Old Man lived on a farm. As the Gingerbread Boy ran he passed some animals. Pig: Oink, Oink…STOP! You look like a tasty treat! Gingerbread Boy: I’m so happy, I’m filled with joy! You won’t catch me I’m the Gingerbread Boy.
Narrator: The pig was disappointed to see the Gingerbread Boy run on. Next the Gingerbread Boy saw a sheep. Sheep: Baa, Baa…STOP! You look like a tasty treat that I would like to eat. Gingerbread Boy: I am so happy, I am filled with joy! You can’t catch me I’m the Gingerbread Boy.
Narrator: Now the sheep was disappointed too but he could see he would not be able to catch the Gingerbread Boy. Next the Gingerbread Boy saw a cow. Cow: Moo, Moo…STOP! You sure look like you’d be good to eat. Gingerbread Boy: I’m so happy, I’m filled with joy! You can’t catch me I’m the Gingerbread Boy.
Narrator: Now the Gingerbread Boy was getting a little tired. He had run around the barnyard and was getting out of breath. Hiding behind a tree was a fox. Fox: Hey, Little Gingerbread Boy. You look tired. Gingerbread Boy: I’m so happy! I’m filled with joy! You won’t catch me I’m the Gingerbread Boy.
Fox: Why are you so happy! Gingerbread Boy: I’m just happy to be outside and seeing the world. Fox: Yes, that does sound nice but you look so tired. Hop on my back and I’ll show you around. Narrator: Now this little Gingerbread Boy was pretty smart and he knew the Fox was dangerous. So…
Gingerbread Boy: I am tired that I know, but on my two legs back to the house I’ll go! Narrator: And the Gingerbread Boy ran all the way back to the house. Little Old Man: Oh, I am so glad to see you! I felt terrible about opening the oven door and having you hop out.
Little Old Lady: While you were gone I baked you a house. I hope you’ll decide to stay with us. Gingerbread Boy: I’m so happy! I’m filled with joy! I won’t run from you…I’m your Gingerbread Boy! Narrator: And they all lived together happily ever after!
