What is Dynamic Chromatography Method?
V-Sorb 2800 Dynamic chromatography method is operated under atmospheric pressure and the adsorbate is adsorbed in continuous flow state for the whole procedures. Dynamic chromatography, originated from gas chromatography, measures the adsorbate amount by thermal conductivity detector (TCD). Dynamic nitrogen adsorption takes nitrogen as adsorbate, helium or hydrogen as carrier, mixes adsorbate and carrier in certain proportion (1:4), makes nitrogen reached expected relative pressure and flows adsorbate through samples’ surface. When sample cells are under liquid nitrogen condition, samples will occur physisorption to nitrogen but not the carrier gas, after this, the mixed gas proportion will change which leads to thermal conductivity coefficient’s changement as well, now, the signal voltage can be detected from the TCD, the adsorption isotherm will appear automatically. Back samples to normal temperature after adsorption saturation, the adsorbed nitrogen will begin to desorb and form a desorption isotherm that contrast to adsorption isotherm. Adsorption isotherm or desorption isotherm area sizes are directly proportional to adsorbate amount on samples’ surface area, thus adsorbate amount, represented by isotherm area, can be worked out by dosing gas. The adsorption and desorption isotherm curve can be plotted by measuring a series of adsorption amount under partial pressure P/Po, further figure out specific surface area. V-Sorb 4800S (Four stations) A turbo molecular pump is a type of vacuum pump, superficially similar to a turbopump, used to obtain and maintain high vacuum. These pumps work on the principle that gas molecules can be given momentum in a desired direction by repeated collision with a moving solid surface. In a turbo molecular molecular pump, a rapidly spinning turbine rotor ‘hits’ gas molecules from the inlet of the pump towards the exhaust in order to create or maintain a vacuum.
