GoMath! Think Central Quick Start Guide for Parents & Students

Earlier  in  the  year  we  sent  home  a  letter  letting  you  know  that  we  are  using  GoMath!  as  our  main  math   curriculum  for  the  year.    Our  First  Grade  Think  Central  tools  are  now  up  and  running.       Follow  these  simple  steps  to  access  online  materials  to  help  practice  and  review  math  concepts  at  home:   Go  to  https://www-­‐k6.thinkcentral.com/ePC/start.do?orgID=04012770  (this  will  take  you  directly  to   Bay  Laurel’s  GoMath!  page).    You  can  find  this  link  on  our  First  Grade  website  under  the  GoMath  tab  and   under  the  Homework  &  Resources,  web  resources  tab.       1. Enter  your  user  name  and  password  (attached  to  this  letter)   2. Click  Log  In.   3. You  will  see  the  following  screen  when  you  log  in.  In  first  grade  we  will  just  be  using  My  Library:

Once  inside  My  Library,  you  will  see  the  following  items.    Anything  with  G1  or  primary  will  be   applicable  for  our  grade  level,  especially  those  circled  below:                                                  

                                                                           

GO  Math!  Multimedia  eGlossary,   K-­‐6:   This  is  a  great  resource  for  adults   and  students.    You  can  look  up  the   newer  math  terms  that  you  may  not   be  as  familiar  with.        

      Example:  

iTools  Primary:     These  are  virtual  manipulatives  that   students  can  use  while  doing  their   math  work  at  home.    They  are   digital  versions  of  the  hands  on   tools  we  use  in  class.   Interactive  Student  Edition,  G1:     When  you  click  on  this  icon,  you  can   then  choose  the  chapter  and  lesson   you  are  working  on.    It  gives  a  quick   review  of  the  lesson  and  even  has  a   few  practice  problems  in  the  Math   Trainer.    This  is  often  shown  in  class   as  part  of  the  way  a  concept  is   introduced,  so  it  may  be  a  helpful   for  adults  as  a  quick  way  to  see  how   it  is  being  taught  in  class.   Math  on  the  Spot  Videos:     Choose  Grade  1  and  then  the   chapter  and  lesson  you  are  working   on.    It  will  give  a  brief  lesson  on  a   problem  solving  skill  that  relates  to   a  problem  in  the  classroom   workbook.    The  kids  enjoy  watching   and  it  is  a  great  way  to  demonstrate   solving  multi-­‐step  or  more   challenging  problems.
