In 1999, Daniel Barenboim and Edward Said founded the Western-Eastern Divan Orchestra bringing people together from Israel, Palestine and other countries in the Middle East. Despite tremendous political and social obstacles, the orchestra has functioned as a transformative unit of harmony.
