Welcome to Harrison Hills Park and our 3rd annual Halloween Trail Run and Walk! Thank you all for coming, and for supporting this fundraiser for Scout Projects in the Park. The Scouts have put in over 2500 hours here, building park benches, bridges, a wetland boardwalk and wildlife observation blind, to name just a few. The Fitness Competition takes place today at the Fitness Station built by Eagle Scout Ethan Tady in 2014. The Scouts, together with FHH volunteers, form the backbone of manpower that has transformed our 500-acre Park into an accessible nature retreat for visitors while conserving its natural habitats for wildlife. It is wonderful to see our community come together to support our family-friendly outdoor event. This event has doubled in attendance every year since inception and today over 250 runners and walkers will toe the Start, with scores of family and friends cheering at the sidelines. Out on the race course, Park Rangers, Scouts and other volunteers point the way and hand out treats at the soccer field and power station aid stations. Say ‘hi’ or ‘boo’ when you see them! For those who are not racing, there’s plenty to do. Get your free Halloween tattoos and pet a friendly box turtle. Put your bids in for the 50/50 and the Chinese Auction with over $1500 worth of prizes. Purchase an event wristband for tasty food, and participate in the costume and fitness competitions. Check out our vendors and sponsors and their offerings too! I hope you will have a great time here today. Thank you again sponsors, volunteers, racers and supporters, for your contributions to this Scout Projects fundraiser that will help improve this Park for all of us to use. Best wishes,
Spencer Clark

Harrison Hills Park is 500 acres offering picnic shelters, and 14 miles of color-blazed trails for running, hiking, biking and horseback riding. Cross-country skiing and snowshoeing are good winter activities. Our Environmental Learning Center conducts nature programs for all ages, and our Outdoor Classroom is aimed at getting children back to nature. Birders will find plenty of Spring and Fall migrants for their life lists, with 182 species identified by bird expert and National Geographic author Paul Hess. Old growth woodlands, open meadows, streams and ponds offer a natural habitat for wildlife and a beautiful, relaxing environment for visitors to the Park. The Council of Friends of Harrison Hills Park is a group of volunteers appointed by Allegheny County Council, to serve two-year terms as advisors to the County on issues relating to improving the Park for community use. Our Mission We intend to make only improvements necessary to improve the parks usability, promote outdoor activities for all ages for both educational and recreational purposes and keep Harrison Hills Park as a “Nature Park” as it was originally envisioned. For more information on how to support the Friends of Harrison Hills Park as a volunteer or donor, please contact us. Thank you! Email:
