Hill Country Youth age group Chess Festival – 2018 – Kandy District Selection The 64 Squares International Chess Academy, the leading chess academy in Sri Lanka, earned a great reputation with organizing chess events. Kandy Open International Event is the current Biggest and Strongest Open Event in the island. This year Academy plans to organize a Central Province Final Event after three selection events in Kandy, Matale and Nuwaraeliya. The main idea of this event is to build a good platform for the players in our province to meet top range players in the their respective Age groups. We hope this event will create a starting path for many young and talented players to improve their skills. Kandy District Chess Festival will be held on 20th & 21st of January 2018 Event: There will be total of 08 separate individual events (Under 08, 10, 12, 14 years - Boys and Girls). The events will be held according to the Swiss System with 05 rounds. Time control: Under 12 and 14 Categories - 03 hours per round Under 08 and 10 Categories - 02 hours per round Venue: - NICD – Polgolla [[ Under 14 and 12 - Rochdell Hall / Under 08 and 10 Main Hall. ]] Eligibility: Those who are below the respective age group before the 1st of January 2018 are eligible to participate in the event. . Entry Fee: -
An entry fee of Rs. 600/= will be charged.

Awards
Top Three places will be awarded with Gold, Silver and Bronze medals. Top 4th - 06th places will be awarded with Merit Medals. Every player will be given a certificate of participation. Top 30 players of each section will be selected for the finals of the event. Top 30 players will be awarded with Merit Certificates. Awards ceremony will be held at the same venue after the last round of each section.
