MESSAGE FROM THE ADMINISTRATION: Dear Parents / Guardians, Well – we made it through the first half of the second semester! When we get back to school in a week’s time, it really will be the beginning of the end, with only 8 weeks remaining of this school year! And, so much to do in those last 8 weeks. The Grade 12 st students will have their send-off lunch on Friday April 21 when those who are full IB diploma (and those with 4 or more IB exams to th th sit) will start their study leave. The following Friday, April 28 is the first day of the IB examinations which run 3 weeks to May 19 . On that day, school ends for all seniors (whether IB diploma or not). To celebrate their final day, this year’s Prom will be held on th Saturday, May 20 at the Polo Club – tickets are on sale and can be bought through the members of the Junior council or at the th cashier for Php2800. After Pro, the seniors will then have just 1 short week before graduation on May 26 . I kidded at the start of the year about time accelerating – I wasn’t really joking was I; before we know it we’ll be sending another batch of graduates through the doors and off into the big wild world. th

th

We also need to fit in the final exams for the rest of the High School. Grade 9 and Grade 10 exams run from May 15 to 17 while the th th Grade 11 exams start on May 11 and run until May 17 . A big shout-out this week goes to the Music department, Mr. Howrey, Ms. Provencher, Ms. Grev, Mr. Bobisse and Mr. Nazareno together with all of the students (and a few teachers) that took part in last Tuesday’s Finale Concert. The level of musical talent was a credit to you all and was testament to the effort and dedication in the lead-up to the concert. The high point for me was the Jazz Band’s final piece “Lucky Chops” which may not have been as polished as other pieces I’ve heard them play in the past, but boy, they were having fun! Well done everyone. Finally this week, good luck to all of our season 3 athletes. As I write this week’s bulletin, the Badminton games are still going on here at ISM in the HS and MS gyms, and will continue tomorrow with the finals in the afternoon. Both our girls’ and boys’ teams have a chance to medal. The golf is happening down at Mount Malarayat today under the watchful eye of Mr. Birchenall, while the Baseballers and Softballers are competing in Singapore and the Track and Field athletes and in Bangkok. All the news and results can be found on the www.iasas.asia website by clicking on “season 3” at the top of the page. Wishing you all the best in competition from here in Manila. And with that, I will bid you safe travels if you’re away for the break. Looking forward to having you all back safe and sound for the th final installment of the year, starting on April 17 . Take care everyone, Regards, Mike Dickinson High School Principal

Excluded are pregnant and lactating women, and immune deficient individuals. FROM THE CLINIC:

Mark the Date: ISM Vaccination Day Wednesday, May 31 from 7:00am to 4:00pm in the Clinic Last day to sign up/pay – Monday, May 22 TIME TO SIGN UP FOR THE 2017 QUADRIVALENT FLU VACCINATION!

PHP - 700.00 for Quadrivalent FLUQUADRI

(Sanofi-Pasteur)

To be protected against influenza you should get vaccinated annually, since the circulating strains of the virus change, hence the composition of the vaccine is always kept up to date. The Quadrivalent influenza vaccines provide broader protection as they include both co-circulating B lineages. Vaccination is especially important for people at high risk for serious flu complications (persons 60 and above, with chronic health condition and women getting pregnant during the flu peak season) and their close contacts. Fill in and sign one Influenza Vaccination Consent Form per person: DOWNLOAD HERE Forms are also available from the cashier’s office or the clinic and can be downloaded from the ISM website. Present both documents on the vaccination date.

CHECK YOUR VACCINATION RECORD IF YOU NEED A TDAP BOOSTER (tetanus/lockjaw, diphtheria and pertussis/whooping cough)

PHP – 900.00 for TDap booster ADACEL (Sanofi Pasteur)

A TDap booster is needed every ten years, and it is usually prescribed within 24 hours after the slightest scratch acquired outdoors, if a person is not protected. College freshmen are generally required to have an updated immunization record, also for TDap. Fill in and sign one Tetanus Vaccination Consent Form per person: DOWNLOAD HERE Forms are also available from the cashier’s office or the clinic and can be downloaded from the ISM website. Present both documents on the vaccination date. Everyone with a valid ISM ID, teachers and their children may are eligible to be vaccinated. Please complete the vaccination payment form (available at the Cashier office and the Clinic) and make your payment to the Cashier (open Mo – Fr 7:00am – 3:15 pm). Payment must be made not later than Monday, May 22. The vaccines will then be ordered and no further registrations can be accepted. If you have any questions please contact Jowell Custodio or Dorothee Binsfeld at the clinic: Clinic numbers: 840 8581 (Dorothee)/82 (Jowell) Clinic email: [email protected] Please note:  Influenza and Tetanus (Tdap) vaccines can be given simultaneously.  The Flu shot will not give you a 100% protection even the strains included in the vaccine  Influenza virus shots do not protect against common cold, sometimes also referred to as “flu”.  The minimum age for the vaccination in school is 3 years. Infants 6 month and older may be vaccinated by their pediatrician.  Children (9 years or younger) with no prior flu shot will need a second shot after 28 days.  Pregnant women can get both shots from the second trimester onwards.  Please refrain in case of egg protein allergy.  Vaccines will be solely administered at the clinic and cannot be handed out. All unused vaccines will be forfeited.
