[email protected] www.hz.nl Application Procedure On-line application for exchange students Students receive a confirmation of reception of the documents by email. When the application is complete, the student will be registered and will then receive a login name and password. May 1st November 1st

Immigration Documentation You have to register at the city hall within three days after your arrival and you have to deregister before your departure. Whether students need to apply for a visa/MVV before entering the Netherlands depends on the nationality. To check whether you need to apply for a visa, click here. 1.Applications for a student visa and residence permit can only be done through a Dutch educational institution. Students can’t apply for it themselves. • The International Students Administration will send the student a scanned copy of the application forms which have to be filled in by the student and additionally an invoice for the costs to be paid. The fee for the IND (= Immigration Services) is € 311,-- *After completion of the forms the student needs to send the form and supporting documents to the International Students Administration. • After reception of the documents and the payment, the International Students Administration will apply for the visa and residence permit on behalf of the student. 2. In order to obtain a visa and residence permit, students have to prove the disposal of sufficient financial means for the duration of their stay (€ 9000,--* (for a year), € 4500,-*(one semester)). This amount is added to the invoice but will be transferred back to the student’s Dutch bank account after arrival in the Netherlands. Students will receive detailed information on the visa/residence permit procedure and costs by email. 3.Students will be informed as soon as the IND advises positively on their application. • Students can then make an appointment at the Dutch embassy in their own country in order to apply for the student visa. • The residence permit card can be picked up at the IND office shortly after arrival in the Netherlands. Residence permit based on Working Holiday Programme. Canadian students are informed by email on this topic before their arrival. Application forms will be provided by the International Students Administration after arrival. Students will then need to go to the IND office to have their biometrical data taken.
