IMMANUEL LUTHERAN CHURCH REMEMBERANCE PROGRAM AUGUST 24, 2014 Welcome to the celebration of the 150th Anniversary of Immanuel Lutheran Church. We invite you to enjoy the day with us and learn more about the history of the Immanuel Lutheran Church & Cemetery, as well as the surrounding community of Lauraville.

In 1874, Lauraville was a community of farmers and individuals looking to trade the frenzied pace of life in the city for a more rural, tranquil setting. It was during this time that Immanuel Lutheran Church, then located on Caroline Street, purchased 7 acres of land on Grindon Avenue for the cemetery. The cemetery is also known as the German Lutheran Cemetery. Many of the faithful members of Immanuel, founding families of the community, as well as other notable members of society, are buried here. Since its inception, the cemetery and church have retained a storied history and offer insight into Baltimore’s past. We encourage you to take special note of the following: Medal of Honor Recipient
