Dear Dr. Menguito, This is to inform you that the Science Education Institute, an attached agency of the Departme:nt of Science and Technology, is currently implementing a project entitled JnnoBox: Search for the Most Innovative Teaching and Learning Materials in Science. This is a nationwide search for the most innovative teaching and learning resources in science, which is open to all public and private elementary and secondary schools nationwide. The search aims to encourage teachers to be innovative/creative/practical in teaching science concepts to improve students' performance in the subject. Tn this connection, we are inviting all public and private elementary and secondary schools in your region to join the said Search. We are providing you the enclosed posters and flyers, which you may use to disseminate information regarding the Search, in addition to the DepEd Advisory issued by the DepEd Central Office and uploaded in the DepEd website. Intellectual property prior to the contest shall be owned by the proponent. SEI will be pennitted to disseminate intellectual property in consultation with the proponent. The application for IP after the contest sh all be consulted with DOST-SEI. The assistance provided by DOST.SEI shall be acknowledged In any application. The ownership of IP and IP rights resulting from this project, partially or fully financed by DOST-SEI, s hall be governed by RA 10-055 or the Philippine T echnology Transfer Act of 2009. REQUIREMENTS AND MECHANICS

THE SEARCH

CATEGCJR JES There are three (3) search categories where schools can send entry to the search. These are the following: Grades 3-6 category · Grades 7-10 Category • Grades 11-12 category

EUG IB!UTY The search is open to all Filipino teachers who are currently teaching science. The proponent should be a science teacher or a team led by a principal proponent who is a science teacher. Collaboration with students in conceptualizing the proposed innovation is encouraged. The Search Secretariat will notify the qualifiers fax, electronic or postal mail, Each qualifier will receive a financial grant of Php so,000.00 to be to create the prototype or enhance the existing teaching and learning resource being proposed. Non-qualifiers will also be notified.

A copy of the Deed of Undertaking which stipuli the condition for the grant of the seed fund will accompany the written notification.

The qualifiers and the principallschool head will the Deed of Undertaking (DOU) to signify accep1 of the conditions of the grant. Principal propone expected to attend the orientation upon notific: the Secretariat.

PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION/MONITORINC

SEARCH MECHANI CS Proposals must be duly endorsed by the school principal/head. Proponents must use the prescribed forms in submitting proposals. The Search Secretariat will pre-screen the submitted proposals based on compliance to the requirements. Entries with incomplete documents will not be screened. All submitted documents are subject to final evaluation of the Technical Committee.

Qualifiers will implement the proposed innovat their respective classes by pilot testing their innovation using the current K to 12 Science Curriculum Guide. The technical committee, having selected the qualifiers, will monitor the implementation of tl innovation by observing classes in SY 2018-21>· Before the observation, the qualifiers will also nominate another teacher from their school to proposed innovation in another class.. This cla! also be observed by the technical committee.

The Search Secretariat may request the schools to provide additional infonnation to facilitate the evaluation of their entries.

Part of the monitoring activity witl be the cond interviewstFGDs involving the school principal/ qualifiers (teacher), the team members, and th students.

A Technical Committee will be created to evaluate the proposals, rank the entries, and endorse the qualifiers for each category for approval of the National Steering Committee. There will be three (3) qualifiers for each category, as follows:

The technical committee will submit classroon observation reports and other relevant documE the Search Secretariat, which will be used by 1 Board of Judges in selecting the winners.
