Inter-University Competition on Water Resources Management A TERI University - TERI Initiative Programme Details and Application Guidelines TERI University and The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) are pleased to call for applications under the ‘Inter-University Competition on Water Resources Management’ programme. The programme is focused on students at the undergraduate level who would typically be in the age group of 17-22 years. The programme essentially follows a competition mode, which will run along sub-national lines (5 Regions of India) and would provide an opportunity to students from all parts of India to participate. The programme encourages students to develop a multi-stakeholder, evidence-based, participative, practically implementable Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) proposal.

Programme Objectives     

To create awareness on water and sanitation challenges and an ownership of solutions at a wider stakeholder level To encourage a systemic, multi-disciplinary approach to understanding and solving water problems To engage academia and students with local communities, governments and other stakeholders To encourage local governments to mobilize research expertise of local universities for evidence generation To excite all stakeholders in taking suo moto action on water management

The Sustainable IWRM proposals form the core of this programme.

Awards and Recognition As a team registered with this competition, you will be recognized for your contribution, and you can avail the following benefits:  Teams will receive a certificate of recognition from the organizers  Attractive awards will be given to the winning teams by global sustainability leaders at DSDS(Delhi Sustainable Development Summit1)  Access to national level expertise and resources  Exposure to two events and activities conducted at national and international level on water for the winning teams  Be a part of the first of its kind network – exchange ideas with peers and find new openings for future assignments  International knowledge exchange between German experts and students for the National Competition

Selection Criteria Bonafide certificates of all team members from their Institutions proving stream of study and stage of completion. Multi-disciplinary nature of the proposal. Minimum of four disciplines to be represented from the following disciplines- economics, social, engineering, science, management and finance. 1

Preference will be given to teams with maximum representation of students having at least two remaining years in their Institution. Preference would also be given to teams who have an Institutional backing and demonstrated commitment of support, in any form.

Evaluation Criteria

The proposals developed by participating teams will be evaluated by eminent juries at the regional and national levels. Jury members would be looking at submitted proposals from the perspective of their: Innovativeness Completeness Implementability Ownership Viability

Who can apply? To register for the programme, you must meet the following criteria: 1) You must register as a TEAM, comprising of 5 members with a minimum of four different disciplines 2) You must be an undergraduate student (between 17-22 years) at a college/university/institute across India.

Please complete the form in English. All fields are compulsory. 2. If selected, teams will have to submit a consent letter from their institution to participate in the programme. 3. One faculty member (from the team coordinator‟s college/ institute) should take the responsibility to mentor the team. Important Information Please note that neither TERI University nor TERI are committing to any financial support to the teams for their proposal development.
