About the Organisation HSBC Global Technology (GLT) is the offshoring arm of the HSBC Group. It is fully owned subsidiary of the HSBC Group with resources dedicated to the development of software solutions. Global Technology has presence in 6 countries spread across the globe, viz, Brazil, Canada, China, India, Malaysia, and Poland. With over 8500 resources spread across multiple locations, it has a top-down view of the HSBC Group’s Software footprint. The services it offers are Software Engineering which include Engineering Analysis and Design, Development, Infrastructure Design and Operations, IT Security, Business Analysis, Testing (in terms of Planning as well as Execution), Deployment and Production Support. The HSBC Group has embarked on a strategy of moving to common systems and processes globally, to further leverage its global reach, and to reduce IT and operating costs and maximize shareholder return. Role Purpose :(overall high level summary of the role) The incumbent may be required to provide the right Solutions by developing their knowledge in any of the suitable technologies and/or domain, including the following: 





Cloud-based Digital Solutions – Understand the latest technologies to build scalable and efficient applications that can run quickly on Mobile/Internet/Cloud. Java , C#, Swift and .NET framework skills and knowledge of various OS like Android desirable. The person should have the ability to learn and adapt the latest Open source tools. The person should be familiar with atleast 1 Java Script Framework. Ability to build and deliver apps that can reside in the cloud and can reach intra-company/inter-company services is essential. Ability to perform regression testing on cloudbased services which access data by any and all devices (e.g. Smartphone, iPad, etc) is essential. Understanding security protocols is a must. Keen interest in compliance and regulations (e.g. Sarbanes-Oxley, HIPAA, and he myriad of data-handling laws across countries will help. It is also important for the canididate to understand the business case for a cloud deployment. Understanding of data generation from cloud-based system mesh seamlessly with on-premises applications; data warehouse or any of the Bigdata application will be helpful. Deploying mix of screen scrapping, automation on the glass and/or ICR/OCR offerings – to implement low cost automation solutions in order to improve productivity and efficiency for the backoffice operations in a rapid application development and delivery model. This is needed as the traditional Bank systems development methodologies have proved to be highly expensive and involve longer development life cycles. These solutions enable us to integrate fragmented product applications without the need to write extensive, costly and invasive coding. This is commonly terms as “integration at the glass”, as the software effectively replaces what a keyboard operator will do through keying in instructions at the workstation. Knowledge of Dot.Net and /or Java technology is a must. Ability to work at L1, L2, L3 support levels for global programs. Open Source development – must understand the packaging and development tools involved in downloading and unpacking the binary version for an existing operating system and demonstrate skills on packaging verification keys (PGP/MD5/SHA). Must be able to perform basis system administration task involved in installing and executing at the operative system level configuration, specifying log files, ports the software will use and other fundamental settings. Monitor servers and determine the use of resources by open source programs. Demonstrate the understanding of the functionality of the open source project. Knowledge of Linux, Apache, MySQL and programming languages such as C, C++, Perl, Python, Java, Ruby, PHP, etc will be useful.

Ability to perform regression testing on all devices (e.g. Laptop, PC, Smartphone etc) is essential. 30% Security and compliance: Understanding of security protocols is mandatory as well as keen interest in compliance and regulations (e.g. Sarbanes-Oxley, HIPAA, and the myriad of data-handling laws across countries will help). 15% Deployment: It is important for the candidate to be able to understand the deployment procedure. 5% Major Challenges (The challenges inherent in the role that require a continual test of the role holder’s abilities) Individual needs to show a keen and continuous appetite to learn in a complex and demanding business and IT environment and the desire to working closely with the business users, onshore IT teams and local development teams. Complexity of regulations, global nature of programs and tight timelines present significant challenges and opportunities for associates. Major challenge faced by the job holder is to understand logic and develop/amend IT applications within set timescales without introducing errors by following disciplined Industry Standards. Majority of problems faced by the job holder are related to technical or system matters and require the continual application of the job holder's knowledge and intellect. Delivering good quality output, getting it right first time, deeper understanding of new trends in technology, regular updates and reporting, participating in crisis situations, if displayed, will be key to the individual personal growth.
