THREEMILE CANYON FARMS, LLC Internship for Field Scout Where: Threemile Canyon Farms is 15 miles west of Boardman, OR. Threemile Canyon Farms is a large irrigated farm and dairy operation along the Columbia River. Our farm consists of 460 center pivots equaling about 52,726.1 irrigated acres. We also have a dairy internship if you are interested in it I can pass your information along. Who: We need five motivated individuals with an agricultural background or studying within agriculture who likes to work outdoors. We will gladly accept college freshman or higher education. We will also accept high school seniors graduating in 2017. Responsibilities: Soil and plant tissue sampling, scouting for pests in potatoes, alfalfa, corn, carrots, green beans, onions and water sampling. Various other duties as needed may include occasional travel to our other farms and working with other crops. It will consist of approximately 50+ hrs per week, and occasional weekend work. There will be on job training for these positions. These responsibilities are vital to our farming operations and we rely on these jobs to gather accurate samples to base our weekly fertilizer and spraying schedules. The right people will be asked back the next season and given appropriate compensation or possibly offered a full time position at supervisor level, if finished with college. Pay: $11.25 an hour and a $5,000 scholarship upon satisfactory completion of sampling season. This is summer employment so end of sampling season would be defined as an agreed upon date at which you choose to go back to school. Students who are graduating are also encouraged to apply and compensation will be negotiated and possibly lead to a full time position. Starting date: Upon completion of spring classes or arrangements will be made if you can start earlier depending on the academic calendar of the student. The intern will be responsible for finding housing in the area and having transportation to get to the farm. There is currently no housing available on the farm.
