Summer 2017
History & Italian Studies in Florence
The Florence Program is sponsored by the University Scholars Program and is carried out in cooperation with the Lorenzo de’ Medici institute. Nestled in the fabled landscape of Tuscany, where art, architecture, food and history blend easily together in a romantic and sun-drenched city, Florence is a must for the adventurous student. Stroll along the banks of the Arno River, make your way through the shops nestled along the famed Ponte Vecchio bridge, spend a leisurely afternoon in the Boboli Gardens, drop in for a coffee or a snack at your favorite street-side cafe or enjoy incredible multi-course Italian meals, and, of course, absorb the abundance of artistic wealth found throughout the city’s museums, palazzi, and churches as you walk the streets once wandered by Michelangelo, Boccaccio, Galileo, and the Medici. Field trips to Venice, Sorrento, Siena, Lucca, and Pisa are included.
