Croatia at its Best! September 8th to 15th, 2018 Day 1: September 8th, 2018 Arrive in Rovinj by fast ferry from Venice when traveling with the group. You may also arrive in Zagreb, where a private transfer can be arranged at an additional cost. Take a group transfer to your cliff side hotel in Rovinj. Rovinj is coastal Istria’s star attraction, remaining one of the last true Mediterranean fishing ports. Wooded hills and low -rise hotels surround the old town, which is webbed with steep cobbled streets and piazzas. Spend the evening exploring and have dinner at your leisure. (B) Rovinj: 2 nights - Hotel Eden or similar
Day 2: Sept. 9th, 2018 Enjoy breakfast and relax before embarking on a private tour of the medieval hilltop town of Motovun, nestled in the scenic and undulating green countryside. Our local guide will explain why this central Istrian town’s truffles have made it so famous. Admire the beautiful views across the oak forests and vineyards of the Mirna Valley, while sampling its local wines. Savor a group lunch at a local taverna, followed by a guided stroll around its ramparts. Return to Rovinj and spend the evening at your leisure. (B, L)
Day 3: Sept. 10th, 2018 After breakfast, take a private walking tour of Rovinj with a local guide and spend the rest of the morning shopping, eating or exploring at your leisure. This afternoon, board a private bus which will take you to Plitvice Lakes National Park, Croatia’s most touted natural wonder. Its majestic waterfalls, crystal-clear lakes and forests have earned it a place on the UNESCO Register of World Natural Heritage Sites. The park’s most compelling features are the waterfalls that interconnect its 16 turquoise lakes, which are set amid soaring rock formations and dense forests of beech, fir and spruce. This evening, enjoy a group dinner with spectacular views. (B, D) Plitvice Hotel: 1 night
Day 4: sept. 11th, 2018 After breakfast, get ready for a 4-hour guided walking tour through the park. This afternoon, transfer to Split, Croatia’s 2nd largest city. Always buzzing, this exuberant city has just the right balance of tradition and modernity. No other city on Earth can claim to be built inside a reasonably well-preserved Roman Palace. Spend this evening at your leisure. (B) Split Heritage Plaza: 1 night
Day 5: sept. 12th, 2018 After breakfast, enjoy a guided 2 hour walking tour of Split’s city center, followed by lunch at a local taverna. This afternoon, head to Makarska, and your beautiful seaside hotel. Makarska’s main draws are its beaches, backed by fragrant pinewoods overlooking the glistening turquoise sea, and the endless array of outdoor activities for nature lovers and active types. Choose to lounge seaside or poolside with a beverage in hand. (B, L) Makarska Park Hotel: 1 night
Day 6: sept. 13th, 2018 After breakfast, depart for Dubrovnik, where, upon your arrival, you will enjoy a guided walking tour of the old town and city walls. Known as The Pearl of the Adriatic, this magnificent walled city and UNESCO World Heritage Site has been used as the location for filming HBO’s “Game of Thrones” and Neil Jordan’s “The Borgias”. Enjoy a group lunch at a local taverna, before spending the evening at your leisure. (B, L) Dubrovnik Neptune hotel: 2 nights
Day 7: Sept. 14th, 2018 A very special private day tour to Mostar, located on the Neretva River, is truly a highlight. Mostar is the largest city in Herzegovina and is known for its old bridge built by the Ottomans in the 16th century. The bridge was an architectural feat in its time, boasting the longest arch in the world. Sadly, in 1993, the old bridge was destroyed during the war. Mostar is still reeling from the impact of that war, a big part of what makes it so hauntingly beautiful. Return to Dubrovnik to enjoy a group farewell dinner. (B, D) Day 8: Sept. 15th, 2018 After breakfast, a group transfer to the Dubrovnik (Cilipi) Airport (DBV) will be arranged. (B)
