The staff will be evaluating the Math and Reading resources to prepare to make recommendations for the most effective programs for the 2017-2018 school year. The viability of offering a free high quality school-wide tutoring program is being evaluated for the 20172018 school year (the students and parents would benefit, and the teachers would be compensated for their hard work). Many elementary teachers are offering free tutoring to their students at this time, but we have many more students that could benefit. The elementary staff and students are working very hard to reach individual goals. Discipline referrals for the first semester of 2015-2016 totaled 106, referrals for the first semester of 20162017 totaled 88. PBS is working, a special thanks to the staff and the PBS team. On January 17, 2016, Grandview Elementary held the second quarter awards assembly. It began with an amazing performance by MadScience and Dr. Newton Apple. Dr. Apple performed the Sounds like Science program which was a highly interactive, educational, fun presentation that kept the students entertained. When he concluded his program, the staff took time to recognize some outstanding honors and awards that our students achieved. Ms. Sewald recognized our students who earned the Positive Behavior Award for the months of September, October, and November. Mrs. Brooks gave out an Art Achievement Award. Mrs. Holdenried, LPC announced the 31 students who earned Perfect Attendance for second semester. The third, fourth, and fifth grade teachers gave out their honor roll and high honor roll awards. Students who received Citizenship Awards were recognized, as well as, students who met their AR goal for second semester. Mrs.Bequette was recognized as one of twelve Missouri nominees for the National Distinguished Principal Award. Great planning Mrs. Holdenried, LPC! Superintendent’s Report-All K-12 students will take benchmark tests in tested areas three times during the 2017-2018 school year, the following year all subjects will take the benchmark tests. The maintenance and custodial staff worked very hard to help complete the middle school restroom project. Great job! The middle school and high school sewer lines were repaired over Christmas break. Thank you to Rebecca McAnally and the principals for working extra hard.

Football-Alex DeMatteis and Rhonda Hubbard met with the students to determine students interested in playing football. The coaches started season workouts, attendance is taken. What are the SMART goals to make sure the football program is successful and who is responsible? The board needs to know the goals for the program. What are the options for students that want to pursue football in college? The program must be evaluated each year. Safety is the most important part of a plan. Other Items from Board Members-Mr. Gearhart thanked the staff for sharing data and student achievement information. Discussion about possible transportation cuts and planning ahead.
