Solectron now Flextronics is a leading global provider of electronics manufacturing and integrated supply chain services. This project was basically of EDI-SAP integration. It contained customer and supplier B2B (business-tobusiness) as well as A2A (application-to-application) interfaces, both inbound and outbound. The inbound (with respect to SAP) interfaces included Customer Sales Order, Sales Order Change, Purchase Order Acknowledgement, Forecast Response and Inventory Advice etc. The outbound (with respect to SAP) interfaces included Invoice, Forecast, Supplier Purchase Order, Purchase Order Change and Demand Pull etc. All common utilities, logging framework and lookup services were segregated in different packages and utilized in the interface packages. The 2

lookup services were used to get the key values like canonical sender ID, receiver ID, partner number etc. from the database. Each milestone of the transactions was logged with details of key fields like PO number, date, IDOC number etc. Errors/exceptions were handled and notification e-mails were sent to the recipients mentioned in the configuration file. Hub is a major component in the project. Its role in the system is to expose mainframe functionalities to the .NET front end. XCBS is a Java based component in Hub that implements business logic. The UI is provided by using ASPX. Java acts as a Xross Channel Business Service and the communication between the .NET and Java is through Web Services. Mainframes provide the database support and IBM APIs are used to communicate from Java and it internally uses MQ Series. DB2 acts as a stand-in database when there is some shutdown problem in mainframes. Responsibilities: • • • • • •
