Conference Hosts This conference is supported by the Central East ­Addiction Technology Transfer Center (Central East) and its Center for HIV, Hepatitis, and Addiction ­Training and Technology Center (CHHATT), funded by the Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT), and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).

TRACK 1. Skills: Sessions in this track will model strategies for HIV, hepatitis and substance use outreach, focusing on current issues such as prevention and treatment outreach to diverse populations; best practices in hiring, training, and supervising outreach workers; definitions of the seven outreach competencies; and addressing the dual diagnosis client. TRACK 2. Health and Wellness: Sessions in this track will present the best practices in sustaining and supporting effective outreach teams and communities. Workshops may include recognizing and recovering from burn out; care for the outreach worker personally impacted by HIV, hepatitis or substance use. TRACK 3. Research: Sessions in this track will present the newest research relating to HIV, hepatitis, and substance use prevention and care programs. Workshops may include; selecting from approved, evidence based interventions; prevalence of HIV, hepatitis, and substance use in target and special populations; clinical and behavioral outcomes of outreach programs.

Contact Hours

Contact hours are provided through The Danya Institute/Central East ATTC, a NAADAC approved education provider; approval is pending from the National Asso­ciation of Social Workers; as well as through the National ATTC office who are recognized by the National Board for Certified Counselors (NCBB) to offer continuing education for National Certified Counselors. National Office adheres to NBCC Continuing Education Guidelines.

Basic Level Certification

NAADAC, the Association for Addiction Professionals, has developed a Basic Level Credential that helps to validate skills, knowledge and competency of outreach professionals, recovery support workers and interns and assess and measure the potential for new counselors with minimal experience and training. Receive contact hours for many of the workshops offered at this conference (Ethics, HIV/AIDS training, Cultural training) that may apply to the education requirements for this Basic Level Certification.
