The annunciator KEU 531 detects two alarm channels of combustion motors, gives in case of a failure at the engine an audible alarm and shuts the motor down. The diameter of the housing is 60 mm Ø, so it can easily be inserted into an instrumentation panel direct at the motor. The unit is produced in SMD-technique, so it can withstand vibrations and shocks. The contacts for the alarm channels (e.g. low lub. oil pressure and high cooling temperature) must be NO-types, so that they will apply in case of a failure the negative supply [L-] to the alarm inputs. The relay outputs for the horn and the stopping equipment might be loaded with max. 5 amps. On the front plate of this unit you find: − one green LED, signalising ENGINE IS RUNNING resp. MONITORING IS ON, − two red LEDs with symbols for LOW LUB.OIL PRESSURE und HIGH COOLING TEMPERATURE, − one push button for HORN OFF resp. ALARM OFF or ENGINE STOP.

Modifications (e.g. alarm inputs for NC contacts, inputs for an external stopping or reset command, etc.) of this KEU 531 are possible. Please ask KUHSE.

FUNCTION The DC-supply voltage is applied to the terminal 1 with the ignition key for the motor or with the battery main switch. All LEDs will light up for about one second to show the proper function of the unit. The operation solenoid is energized. For activating the monitor function, the terminal D+ of the charging dynamo is used. As soon as the motor is running and due to this, the terminal D+ gives a positive signal, the delay timer for monitoring is started. During this time (approx. 7 seconds) the green LED is flashing and when the motoring is enabled, it lights in a steady mode. If now a fault signal is detected, the red LED for this signal input is flashing, the audible signal is switched on and the stopping solenoid is activated for about 40 seconds. The monitor function is disabled during stopping. The green LED is flashing as long as a positive signal is detected at terminal D+. If the engine is still running after the stopping time of 40 seconds, the stopping timer is started again. By this the stopping period is prolonged to 80

seconds (ore more) so that also engines needing more than 40 seconds are shut down surely. The audible signal can be switched off by a short press of the STOP push button or is silenced automatically after 120 seconds. The red LED changes then from flushing to steady mode. With a second short press of this push button the alarm is deleted. The push button STOP has two functions for stopping: 1. it controls directly the stopping and operating solenoids, 2. if you press it more than 2 seconds, the automatic stop procedure of the electronic is activated. Do not switch off the control voltage of the KEU 531 during stopping mode, because by this, the supply voltage for the stopping relay is also switched off and the stopping sequence is interrupted.!
