7th June 2017 Dear Parent/Guardian Having recently started their GCSE the Key Stage 4 Geographers are soon to undertake their first piece of compulsory fieldwork. This is based upon a field study day in the Malham area, investigating the impact of tourism within a National Park. The fieldwork will take place on either Tuesday the 4th or Wednesday 5th July (your child’s Geography teacher will advise them which day the will attend). On the day students should wear suitable clothing for a day in the open air; waterproofs are essential. A rucksack or equivalent is needed in order to carry a packed lunch and drink. Students in receipt of Free School Meals are entitled to a packed lunch provided by the school kitchen. Please indicate this below or email me directly on [email protected]. A camera and clipboard would also be useful. It is possible to buy postcards in the centre. The emphasis of the day is to study the extent to which tourists are damaging such a popular tourist area. Please note that in order to complete this work the coach will leave school at 9am and return between 4.30 and 5pm. Would you therefore please arrange for your child to be picked up at that time. We are asking for a voluntary contribution of £7.50 towards the cost of the coach. Payment can be made and parental consent given, via ParentMail OR by returning the completed Consent Form below, with a cheque made payable to ‘Boroughbridge High School’ by 30th June 2017. If any medical condition has changed please would you also inform a member of staff who will supply a new medical form.
