HILLSIDE ANNUAL LEARNING FAIR Friday, March 21, 2014 6:00 - 7:45 pm What is the Hillside Learning Fair? An annual exhibition that celebrates the independent interests and knowledge of Hillside students. Projects are displayed in a format of the student’s choice and design. Use of the school Media Center for research is encouraged, but projects are completed outside of school. Who may participate? Any student in grades K-5. Students may work independently or with partners in groups of 2 or 3. Each partner must have their own registration form. Where does the Learning Fair take place? In the Hillside gym and cafeteria. PLEASE NOTE: Students will have approximately a 3 ft. x 3 ft. space for their display. Please keep this in mind when putting your project together. How do I begin? 1. Think about a topic you are interested in. It can be a question, problem or creative endeavor. Topics include the arts, history, psychology, science, math, etc. The sky’s the limit! 2. Complete the registration form and turn in to the collection box in the main office by March 7th. 3. Begin! Gather necessary information and materials. Mrs. Ubriaco in the Media Center can help you get started with research. Use a variety of resources such as books, magazines, the internet and people you know with expertise. 4. Organize and analyze your information. 5. Plan and prepare your display to share your work. Examples include models, charts, video, pictures, reports and dioramas. If bringing a laptop computer, please bring a fully charged battery to use as electrical outlets are limited. Food or candy handouts are not permitted. Questions?
