Dear Parents and Families, The 2015-16 school year is moving rapidly closer to us. I would like to this opportunity to introduce myself to all of you who do not know me. As of July I,2015,I was approved by the Northville Central School Board of Education to frll a vacancy as Director of Special Education for the 2015-16 school year.
It was 11 years ago that I left Northville Central as the Committee on Special Education Chairperson to pursue an administrative Director position at Fort Plain Central School. I retired as Elementary Principal and Director on July I,2014 from Fort Plain and worked last school year for HFM BOCES under the l-year, Teaching is the Core Grant as Assessment Liaison providing assessment review teams guidance in each of the schools in our BOCES region. I am now returning to Northville as the part-time, interim Director of Special Education. It's wonderful to return home where I began. Prior to 1997,I worked at FMCC with disabled individuals. I've had 25+ years of educational experiences, with most of those years in developing and providing specialized instructional programs to students with disabilities. Here is a quick look into who I am and what I bring to Northville's Educational Team. I see the uniqueness in all individuals and appreciate the differences in others. I am energetic, enthusiastic, respectful, committed, conscientious and do not retreat from hard work. I possess a
vast array of experiences that I intend to share with my colleagues, students and their families with a strong focus on enhancing student learning, improving instruction and holding our students accountable for their part in their education.
As Director of Special Education, my focus is child-centered. I believe all children learn and we need to be collaborative in our efforts to ensure that our children's education is successful. True diversity can be found in the subtle differences between each individual. The Committee on Special Education (made up of parents, students, teachers, specialists) is built on a foundation of partnership and trust in the Team's knowledge, commitment and responsibility to hold our students to a higher level of educational expectations, while providing them a positive educational experience.
