2014 Manager/Coach Information Bulletin Welcome to the 2014 Simi Valley Baseball League Spring Season! The SVBL Board of Directors would like to thank you for your interest in participating in our 2014 Spring baseball season. The following information will explain the application process and important dates leading up to Opening Day 2014.

The safety of all of our participants shall always be our primary goal! Please appreciate the fact that SVBL puts great emphasis on placing the best available Managers and Coaches on the Fields at all times! As such, it is out policy that all applicants participate in a “Live Scan” background check, successfully complete the Babe Ruth Online Coaching certification program and attend one of the MANADATORY Coaching Clinics. You will find both the certification process and our clinics offer loads of information from a very professional aspect. BACKGROUND CHECKS Any Manager or Coach applying for the 2014 spring baseball season must complete their background check for SVBL ,if they have not done so, by December 21, 2013. • •

Manager interviews are from December 9-13th. Manager selections are on January 14, 2013

SVBL requires BGC’s for all team coaching staffs. Coaches selected by the team manager must have their BGC completed by February 04, 2014. New to the league or first time applicants… Applies only to managers appointed after Jan. 14, 2013 for the 2014 spring season. If the board appoints a manager after Jan. 14, 2013 the new manager will have 10 days to complete the BGC. COACHING CERTIFICATION Retuning Managers and coaches should have already completed their certification. Any Manager or Coach applying for the 2011 spring baseball season must complete their Cal Ripken Certification for SVBL, if they have not done so, By Dec. 17, 2013. Coaches selected by the team manager must have their Cal Ripken Certification for SVBL completed by Feb. 12, 2014. New to the league or first time applicants… Applies only to Managers appointed after January 14, 2014 for the 2014 spring season. You must complete the Cal Ripken Certification by Feb. 1, 2014 and your Coaches by Feb. 12, 2014. Managers and Coaches that have not meeting SVBL requirements will not be allowed on the field of play, in dugouts or on the practice field until you done so. Teams will NOT be released on draft night to Managers that are found to be non-compliant. SVBL will refund the cost of both your BGC and Cal Ripken Cert. MANAGER INTERVIEWS Nobody by default has a team! All manager applicants, including Allstar and Winterball Managers, should understand that an individual interview process will be conducted prior to being selected as a Manager for the 2014 Season. Please submit your application by Dec. 9th, 2013 at any one of the registration tables, or scan the completed app and email it to [email protected]. THE DRAFT The Draft Process will begin with the Cal Ripken Major Division on January 29th, with the Minor Division on the 30th and the Farm on the 31th. The League will then select the T-ball, Coach Pitch and Rookie Division teams making every effort to balance the teams and fulfill requests. The Babe Ruth HS Prep Division will draft on Feb. 12th and the Seniors on the 13th. Managers are STRONGLY URGED to contact their player/families within one week. At the conclusion of the Draft teams are free to begin practicing, pending the fulfillment of Manager/Coaching requirements described herein. Each applicant to a given Division should understand that an individual interview will be conducted. A background check is performed for ALL applicants which may include a law enforcement report as well as a personal and professional reference check. The $10 fee will be reimbursed upon completion of your managing/coaching season at SVBL. It is also a requirement of all managers to complete the online Babe Ruth Coaches Certification Program. The $19.95 fee will be reimbursed by the league by successful completion of the course and your managing/coaching season here at SVBL. *All star eligibility requirements dictate that you must have managed in the then current Spring season.
