Hello Larry, On Friday, HR submitted ads to Education Week for their next publication and will be further advertising and posting the two positions next weekend with a February 19 deadline for applications. Concurrently, I will hear whether there are any internal staff interested in these positions. Our practice is to invite interested staff to apply for any position in which they hold DESE certification. Then, if the staff and families feel strongly about an internal candidate, I might consider appointing someone, based on the composition of the entire applicant pool. We are fortunate to have a number of strong current administrators (Diane included) and also some internal staff who have been participating in an in-house Administrators' Academy, several of whom have great promise as administrators. In terms of the role that Monica will enter in July, I am bringing back the Director of Diversity and Equity position which was in place for many years in our schools. This position was cut as part of a budget process several years ago. Given our current needs and priorities, bringing this back is a necessity. We will be funding this primarily through a coordinator/administrative retirement and reduction. This will cover about 80% of the position and the remainder of the salary is covered within the current budget. Also, is Ms. Hall going to occupy a new position in Central Office (Kind of like Mike Morris did when he came from Crocker Farm) or is she simply replacing someone who left? Larry
