NAME ADDRESS
Dear
:
With greetings and thanks for your calling to public service, the Sandy Spring Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends (also known as Quakers) writes to you now with a serious concern. As the Maryland Legislature considers whether to allow the gas extraction process called hydraulic fracturing or fracking, we too have weighed this issue. After extensive research, discussion and listening for Divine guidance, we have found unity and express our conclusion in the accompanying statement. As explained therein, our congregation, with over 500 active members, urges you to use your leadership role and every legislative opportunity to oppose fracking. We sincerely hope that our statement's science, economics and spiritual dimensions speak to you, and thank you for your attention to this concern.
Sincerely yours,
Mary Satterfield, Presiding Clerk
