COSMOS Battle Bot Project Team Member – Worked with a team to design and create a remote-controlled robot, “Chuck Norris”, equipped for battle with other robots. Robot was also tested on an obstacle course and completed all tasks successfully. COSMOS RC Airplane Project Team Leader – Collaborated to design, build, and successfully fly a remote-controlled airplane. DC Motorboat Project Individual – Built a simple DC motor from scratch for use on a model boat. Real World Statics Project Individual – Created a statics problem out of a real world situation, wrote up a solution, and challenged another student to solve the problem. National Underwater Robotics Challenge (NURC) Team Member– Collaborated to design, test, and build an underwater rover with limited parts and funds. Participated as a Cal Poly Robotics Club member. Amusement Park Ride Design Team Member– Designed, modeled, and prototyped an amusement park ride within human limitations using Matlab, SolidWorks, and other basic tools. 68HC12 Motorola Microcontroller Project in Assembly Team Member– Blink LEDs at various rates, create a function generator, and develop a proportional plus integral motor controller each with a keypad/LCD interface using assembly language in 10 weeks. Team Member– Design, model, & build. Competed with other teams to create a robot that can navigate an obstacle course and project a ball into a target area via RC. Used laser targeting system and Wi-Fi camera for navigation. Cal Poly “Robot Pong” Mechatronics Competition, won “Most Creative” Team Leader– Design, model, & build. Competed against other teams to create the best “Pong Robot”- any robot using a single motor that travels along a single path and hits a standard paddle pong ball across a table. Won “Most Creative” for creating a wheeled system and using compressed air as paddle actuator. “Cooling/Heating Catheter” Project Team Member – Research, design, estimate costs, and analyze a dual purpose heating/cooling catheter for treating hypothermia/hyperthermia within the intravascular system. Created a mock project proposal for a million dollar contract from the JSP Hospital for product development. “Pier Portal II” Senior Project Team Leader– Continued Pier Portal Project- an underwater camera system installed on the Cal Poly Pier. Designed, ordered, assembled and tested two custom PCB versions for use inside pod. Converted supporting code from cooperative multitasking system to a real time operating system (FreeRTOS) and added functionality. Worked in parallel with CPE project member to successfully control pod from the internet. Provided general mechanical support.
