BASIC Web Utility • This is a set of BB programs that facilitate active HTML web pages by using cgi. • The idea is that the BWU programs act as a “blackbox” between your data and the webserver. • This makes web presentation of BB data quite fast and easily added to a legacy installation. • Quick connect and release so it uses fewer licenses.

BWU – Pros and Cons • Pro – Very fast solution. • Pro – Web development, using the ease of BB. • Pro – Light on the client. Most any browser will work. • Con – Not the immediate interactivity of BB. • Pro – Runs on Win32 and *ix web servers.

Microsoft Terminal Services • A number of the Microsoft PDAs and cellphones have the ability to run the MS Terminal Server Client. This allows them to display any Visual PRO/5 or BBj application session running on the MS Server. (W2K and above) • Interface is graphical and all processing is performed on the server.

Mobile Computing – Windows Scripting Host • This is quite similar to the BWU except that it uses WSH in place of the BWU programs. • WSH requires a Microsoft webserver. • The BB code can be quite simple since it prints to the browser display. • Uses ASP via a browser.
