Nov. 29– 2nd Quarter Progress Reports NOV 7TH: INTERNATIONAL TONGUE TWISTER DAY You have heard of Peter Piper and his peppers. You have heard of the woodchuck who likes to chuck wood. These tongue twisters are fun, but they are not just for kids. These word plays are a great way to practice and improve pronunciation and fluency. They can also help to improve accents by using alliteration, which is the repetition of one sound. Tongue twisters are also used by actors, politicians, and public speakers who want to sound clear when speaking. Below, you will find some of the most popular English tongue twisters. Say them as quickly as you can. If you can master them, you will be a much more confident speaker. In honor of National Tongue Twister Day: Betty Botter bought some butter But she said the butter’s bitter If I put it in my batter, it will make my batter bitter But a bit of better butter will make my batter better So ‘twas better Betty Botter bought a bit of better butter Susie works in a shoeshine shop. Where she shines she sits, and where she sits she shines. I have got a date at a quarter to eight; I’ll see you at the gate, so don’t be late. We all know of our beloved Mrs. Cleary, one of the three administrators at CWMS. She is always kind and helpful towards students and staff and loves to interact with people. Mrs. Cleary has given us some insight on herself and the amazing events of her life that have made her the person she is today! As a child, Mrs. Cleary had a dream of becoming a teacher. She attended C.B. Eller Elementary as a student and believes she was inspired by her teachers to pursue her goal. She says, “I got bullied because my family was poor, but my teachers were my champions that praised me for the things that were within my control such as my hard work ethic and perseverance.” Mrs. Cleary’s favorite school subjects are math and science. She always loved to learn and do activities in both subjects. Mrs. Cleary was inspired by her mother. Her mother dropped out of school, but later, after having children and becoming a grandmother, she went back to school and earned her high school diploma. Mrs. Cleary says that her mother “always knew the value of education and how it changed the world, one student at a time” and was a great inspiration to her and others.

teacher at Mountain View and C.B. Eller Elementary Schools. When she worked at C.B. Eller, she applied for a program called Principal Fellows. She got accepted and trained at Western Carolina University. Finally, she became an administrator at CWMS. Mrs. Cleary loves a lot of things. Her hobbies are running, reading, golfing, and as she calls it, “bingewatching Criminal Minds.” Some of her favorite books would include “Esperanza Rising” and the “Hatchet” series. Mrs. Cleary also likes to read Patricia Palocco because it is good for teaching life lessons. Her absolute favorite book to read to students is “Witches” by Roald Dahl. Reading this gives her a chance to speak like one of her favorite characters in the story: Gran Ma-Ma! She likes all kinds of music that make her happy. She’ll listen to pop, gospel, country, even rap and punk from time to time. What she really loves is 80’s rock and roll. Her favorite rock bands include Def Leopard, Poison, Guns-n-Roses, AC/DC, and Rush.

Mrs. Cleary says that if she were to be a complete principle for a day, she would try to go into the classes and interact more with the students and faculty then she usually does. Clearly, Mrs. Cleary is a kind hearted soul and cares about people and animals big Before becoming our and small. There is no doubt we can always count on assistant principal, Mrs. her to help us and be with us as a close friend. For a mirror always lies It makes you think that incongruous you is all that Can be seen from the outside. Never trust a mirror For it only shows what is skin deep It can’t show you magnanimous acts Or when you’re drifting off to sleep It doesn’t show you what the world sees When you are exuberant and loving what you do Or when you are acting expedient and carefree Just when you are down and feeling doomed

Beautiful you is almost never seen Just the side that is being Contentious, incoherent, and tumultuous

But never when you are beaming It twists your mind, into twisting you In oh so deep hidden places With cantankerous and mad Ubiquitous faces It doesn’t show a meticulous working heart Instead one that is inundated and circumscribed WIth lucid feelings Leaving you just wanting to be modified

But a mirror doesn’t capture when you’re smiling Where no one else can see And your reflection can’t tell you Everything you mean to me

Spanish Phrase of the Month by Gray Johnson Un nino que no juega no es nino pero el hombre que no juega perdio para siempre al nino que vivia en el y que el echara de menos terriblemente. Never trust a mirror For it only shows your skin (A child who does not play is not a child, but the man who doesn't play has And if you think that it dictates your lost forever the child who lived in him and who he will miss terribly.) worth -Pablo Neruda It’s time you look within.
