Description of Position
Responsible for research or advanced engineering in the development of new products, materials, or processes as related to Switch Mode Power supplies. Responsibilities include the assimilation and understanding of the industry and competitive environment for Power products. Duties include leading technology investigations and incubations, performing strategic analysis of the industry capabilities, and developing recommendations to strategist/executive team which influence the device strategy and/or definition of the product. The Power Architect will need to do an evaluation of vendor partner opportunities. Engages design teams, systems engineering, marketing teams, suppliers, and business unit leaders and executives to ensure the product architecture meets Dell’s requirement of product leadership. Responsible for generating Intellectual Property.

Influences the device strategy through their incubations, analysis and recommendations and helps convinces internal and external alignment of the strategy. Develops long-term technical relationships with the vendor base for the core technology or solutions. The relationships should create a technical interface, driving those requirements into next generation vendor designs. Learn from issues and uses experience to create environment that decreases number of issues that happen. Developing and enforcing best practices. Leads Team members in creation of documentation where necessary to eliminate churn…..ensure people use the documentation rather than drain resources with repeated asks Understands and communicates values and risks (NUDDs) associated with different paths. Expert in power development domain with a curious attitude, always learning and improving in their field. Identifies and develops differentiation opportunities, provide technical information and make recommendations to Marketing, Procurement, Engineering, customers, and business executives. Takes a leading role in strategic technical forums and meetings on a regular and consistent schedule. Assists development and systems engineering as required when working tactical/time-to-market development issues. Responsible for generating intellectual property and supporting Dell’s legal team by providing technical support on intellectual property disputes. Participates as required in strategic initiatives for improvements in process, quality, and cost.
Experience • • •
Undergraduate degree with 10+ years relevant experience or Graduate degree with 8+ years relevant experience. Expert level of knowledge or capability in Switch Mode Power Supplies. Knowledge of products and system level integration

Ability to interface effectively with suppliers to ensure they are both doing research and providing information on products or services that have value to Dell, instigating and coordinating these efforts as necessary on a continual basis. Ability to represent Dell in basic negotiation with vendors, OEMs, or internal teams. Ability to conduct presentations to peers, cross- functional teams and director level of leadership. Understanding of appropriate technologies, vendor products, and competitor's offerings. Understanding of Dell’s long-term business goals and objectives. Ability to mentor and lead peers within the technical community.
