NSF Spatiotemporal Innovation Center 4400 University Drive, MS 6C3, Fairfax, Virginia 22030 Phone: 703-993-9612 Thanks to the support from leaders of National Administration of Surveying, Mapping and GeoInformation (NASG), colleagues at ESRI and U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), George Mason University (GMU) Vice President for Global Strategy Solon Simmons, GMU Dean of College of Science (COS) Peggy Agouris, and Associate Dean of COS for Academic Affairs Kevin Curtin, and faculty from the Geography and GeoInformation Science department, the 2016 "Sino-US Seminar on Technology and Management of National Geographic Conditions Census and Monitoring” and “Training Course of Advanced Certificate for Geoinformation Sciences” were successfully held at NSF Spatiotemporal Innovation Center, GMU in August and September. Two groups with a total of 42 directors, chief engineers and officers from NASG and Bureaus of Survey and Mapping from different provinces participated in the training. Prof. Chaowei Yang managed the overall program. Prof. Ruixin Yang, Dr. Min Sun, Ms. Manzhu Yu and Rita Rowland organized the activities at GMU site. Dr. Wendy Guan from Harvard helped organize Harvard participation in the training program. Scientists, leaders and expert, including Drs. Daniel Sui, Zhengwei Yang, Tim Liang, were invited to give lectures to the training groups. Representatives from USGS, ESRI, and ERT Inc helped coordinate the activities at their local offices. All training group members study diligently and conducted warm discussions with the invited leaders and experts. Dr. Chaowei Yang, Dr. Min Sun, Ms. Manzhu Yu, and other center students and staff provided translation. Thanks to the students and staff of STC who provided significant support to ensure smooth operations during the seminar. Again, thanks to all who helped make this effort a success. We are exploring future programs.
