Arrival and Dismissal The roof repairs are complete and we are back to normal for arrival and dismissal. For morning drop-off please remember to enter through the First Street entrance, the same as afternoon dismissal. Also, if your child is a car rider you must pick them up through the car rider line. Please do not park and walk up to the kindergarten doors. This creates a safety issue with the arriving buses as well as the departing cars. As always if you have a dismissal change please notify the office no later than 2:00. Sooner is always better.

Severe Weather Plan 2013-2014 Please review Greater Clark County Schools’ Severe Weather Transportation Plan for this school year. In case of severe/ inclement weather, please tune in to one of the following stations. Do not call school offices or school employees because it will tie up phone lines which are needed for emergency communication. These television stations will be contacted no later than 6:00 a.m.: WAVE 3, WHAS 11, WLKY 32, and WDRB 41. Greater Clark County Schools has also implemented SchoolMessenger, a quick alert messaging service that is being utilized to communicate weather related closure/delays. A SchoolMessenger notification will be sent regarding school opening/closing by 6:00 a.m. Please check with your child’s school to confirm your contact information is correct. If weather and road conditions become bad enough to cause a change in the normal school schedule, one of the following plans will be announced: Plan 1: Two Hour Delay 1. School will begin two hours late. Buses will run two hours later on their normal routes. 2. Afternoon dismissal will remain the same. 3. The morning sessions of preschool programs will be cancelled. Plan 2: Schools Closed 1. No school will be open that day. 2. School will be open the next scheduled day unless another closing announcement is made. 3. Make-up days will be announced. Plan 3: Two Hour Delay for New Washington Schools only 1. NWM/HS and NWES will be on a two hour delay. Buses will run two hours later on their normal routes for NWM/HS and NWES only. 2. Afternoon dismissal will remain the same. 3. The morning sessions of preschool programs will be cancelled. 4. There may be some instances where the New Washington Schools will be the only schools on a two hour delay. Parents may choose to keep their children home during severe/inclement weather when school is in session, but the following rules apply: Attendance is taken and recorded. The parent must notify the school of his/her decision. If the student has perfect attendance in progress for the year, he/she will remain eligible for that recognition. All make-up requirements must be met. During slick road conditions, bus drivers may decide, after approval by the Director of Transportation, that a portion of their route cannot be safely traveled. In such cases, every effort will be made to notify the affected homes. The following rules will apply for students whose bus did not run: Attendance will be taken and recorded with a notation that absence was due to no bus transportation. If the student has perfect attendance in progress for the year, he/she will remain eligible for the recognition. All make-up requirements must be met. Severe/inclement weather conditions sometimes cause buses to run late. Parents are asked to prepare their children to wait a reasonable amount of time for the bus and to be prepared for some variation in normal schedules. Questions about these procedures may be directed to the school principal, the Assistant Superintendent's Office (812-283-0701), or the Transportation Office (812-288-4809).
