Oshkosh Superintendent Search Process, Timeline Community encouraged to provide input Oshkosh, WI – The Oshkosh Area School District Board of Education has hired Ray & Associates to conduct the search for the district’s next superintendent; in May 2017, Oshkosh Area School District Superintendent Stan Mack II announced his retirement, which will take place in June 2018. Ray & Associates, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, specializes in searches for educational executive leadership services; the board made its selection based partially on the group’s proposal to include the board in all steps of the process and to enable board members to actively review job candidate profiles. The first stage of the search process involves gathering information from the board and the Oshkosh community about characteristics desired in a superintendent. The firm uses this information to develop a profile for advertising the position and for recruiting candidates who match the criteria. The firm will gather input through two brief and anonymous online surveys, stakeholder meetings and a public forum open to school district employees, school families and community members. The online surveys are available on the OASD website (visit www.oshkosh.k12.wi.us/home/superintendent-search to participate) and will remain open until 8 a.m. on Friday, October 27. Meetings with constituents will occur on Wednesday, October 25 and will conclude with a community public forum at 6:30 p.m. in the Tipler Middle School Media Center (325 S Eagle St, Oshkosh, WI). NOTE: All Oshkosh area community members are invited and encouraged to attend this public forum. Once compiled, the firm will share all of the input gathered with the board and ask the board to finalize the candidate profile, including a salary range, in order to begin advertising the position. The application will close in January 2018. During the month of February, the firm will assist the board in developing interview questions, screening candidates and selecting finalists to invite to interviews. The board’s goal is to hire the district’s next leader by March 2018. About the OASD: The Oshkosh Area School District is located in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, serving 10,000 students and operating 14 elementary schools, five middle schools, two high schools, two charter schools and an eAcademy. Building community through education, the mission of the Oshkosh Area School District is to create citizens who are critical, creative thinkers, responsible in their actions, and committed to learning for life by working together with families and communities.
