Project Access began in August 2003, and provided service to more than 2,000 individuals the first year of operation.

In 2015 Project Access provided over 2,600 individuals with 30,813 rides. The bus is handicapped accessible and serves a route linking many commonly used homeless services providers. Project Access is free to all eligible homeless persons, but passengers must present a ticket for each trip. Tickets can be obtained at Ticket Distribution Sites. The bus runs 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday – Friday, 52 weeks per year. The bus does not run on the following holidays: New Year’s Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving day, Day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas (or the Monday following). HHH is committed to providing services to all eligible homeless persons without regard to race, color, ethnicity, national origin, creed, gender, ancestry, age, veteran status, or disability.

PROJECT ACCESS Free Interagency Transport for Houston’s Homeless Major funding is provided by the City of Houston and private foundations.
For more information about Project Access or for agencies interested in becoming a ticket distribution site, please call 713-286-6168. The Project Access bus service is free to the homeless. Please note: riders must have a ticket for each ride that is taken on the bus. Healthcare for the Homeless – Houston manages this transportation service. We do not provide money or bus tickets for Metro or Greyhound.
