Available Positions: Part-time Survey Administrators (Temporary) Job Description IMPAQ International, LLC, an independent research organization, is looking for 3-4 Survey Administrators to work on a part-time, temporary basis. The Survey Administrators will administer student surveys in twelve New York City middle schools as part of our evaluation of Reading Apprenticeship Across the Disciplines, a project designed to improve teacher effectiveness and student learning at the secondary level by providing literacy focused, researchbased, cross disciplinary professional learning experiences. This is an opportunity for an individual interested in gaining valuable experience in the field of education while working with NYC schools. The Survey Administrators will administer surveys in schools during a six week period between mid-April and end of May. Administrators must be available during normal school hours (8am4pm), for a total of 10 to 20 hours per week. The survey administration will begin on April 16th and end on May 25th. There is a possibility that administration will go beyond May 25th if teachers are not able to schedule survey administration earlier. There is also the possibility that during a given week, no survey administration activities will take place. Responsibilities
Survey administrators are required to be fingerprinted by the NYC Department of Education (IMPAQ will reimburse the $135 fee associated with this process). Participate in a 60-minute training about survey administration (held the week of March 19th). Conduct student surveys on reading experiences in NYC middle schools. Each survey administrator will visit between 3-5 schools. Schools may be located in Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn, and the Bronx. Carefully handle confidential student surveys and information; return all surveys to the Research Alliance for New York City Schools office located at 285 Mercer St.; NY, NY. Perform other administrative duties as required, including but not limited to organizing and tracking survey materials and coordinating survey administration details.
Requirements and Skills
BA completed or in progress. Flexible schedule during the months of April and May (must be available between 8am4pm two to three days a week during April and May). Ability to communicate effectively with NYC school administrators, faculty, staff, and students. Excellent organizational and oral communication skills. Attention to detail. Punctuality. Experience in education with field research or data collection preferred. Knowledge of New York City Department of Education and schools preferred. We seek applicants who carry diverse perspectives. Strong candidates are able to recognize how potential social/cultural biases may impact research and policy.
Compensation $18 per hour; approximately 10-20 hours per week, 30-60 hours in total. Reimbursement for local travel via NYC Metro. Reimbursement for NYC-DOE fingerprinting (if applicable).
