PHMS Theatre Production 2017-2018 Theatre Production is the most advanced theatre class a student can take at Pioneer Heritage. It is a performance-based class and requires a great deal of rehearsal time. In order to qualify for this class, you must first complete either a theatre or technical theatre class. You may apply as a 6th or 7th grader (going to be a 7th or 8th the next school year). I am looking for hard-working, dedicated students who want to get involved in our program and will work on our productions at Pioneer Heritage. Students in this class will be required to participate in our One Act Play (OAP) competition. This will mean some after school rehearsals and at least two Saturdays (the competition day and a rehearsal day). Generally, we will rehearse after Thanksgiving Break until the week of the competition. There will also be a public performance(s) of the One Act Play. All parts of the application and the signed form from your parents are to be turned into Mr. Fleming by Monday, March 20th. You will need to schedule to perform/present for Mr. Fleming before the end of the school day on Monday, March 20th. You must complete all parts of this application to be considered for placement into the class. Application: Complete the application form. Performance: ACTORS: You will need to select and prepare a short monologue (approximately 45 seconds to 1 minute) to perform for Mr. Fleming and others on March 22nd. If you are having trouble finding a monologue ask Mr. Fleming for some help. They should be memorized and well-rehearsed at the time of your performance. You can do this before school/during Tuesday Pride Time/ after school, please schedule a time with Mr. Fleming. Know that as we get closer to the date everything is due times start to fill up quickly. In addition, you will perform a cold reading with a partner or two on March 23rd. You will have a choice between a comic or dramatic scene. You will have a limited time to rehearse and then perform in front of the committee.

Teacher Recommendation Forms: These forms need to be given to your teachers and filled out. Your teachers will return them to me. I need 3 Recommendation Forms from your teachers. DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE TO HAVE YOUR TEACHERS DO THESE. Give them time.

I understand that in order to be a part of the Theatre Productions class I will be required to: 1. 2.

3. 4.

Attend or participate in all productions at PHMS during the year. (Fall, OAP, and Spring) Be a part of the One Act Play Contest. Involvement in this play will mean commitment to rehearsals outside of the school day. There will also be at least two Saturday rehearsals. This is a major component of the curriculum of this class and will involve class time from November until February. If the student is not available for this event, they should consider not taking this class. Students who take this class should show a dedication and commitment level to their education which is exemplary. If you are not successful in your classes during OAP Season you will not be able to participate. Students in this class should be self-motivated individuals who can be trusted to work on their own for projects. This is an advanced course. They will be required to work on their own and work at home as well.
