DMACC OFFERS OPPORTUNITIES TO HIGH-ACHIEVING STUDENTS

This scholarship is one of DMACC’s most prestigious academic scholarships. It includes enhanced academic, service, social and leadership opportunities as well as automatic entry into DMACC’s Honors Program.
The Valedictorian Scholarship includes: All DMACC fees and tuition for up to four semesters $500 allowance per academic year for books and supplies The scholarship can be used for preprofessional liberal arts
transfer majors or a career and technical degree The estimated value of the scholarship for the 2016 academic school year is $4790 per year, or $9580 if renewed for all four semesters at DMACC. Minimum Criteria to Qualify for the DMACC Valedictorian Scholarship V aledictorian of high school class 2 6 ACT Composite, or SAT combined Math, Verbal and Writing 1670, or equivalent COMPASS placement scores, and completion of the DMACC ALEKS math assessment 3 .5 cumulative GPA (weighted or unweighted) D MACC must be the first college the student attends after high school graduation M aintain enrollment in a minimum of 12 DMACC credit hours by the end of the drop/ add period for the regular 16-week academic term. Please note: Scholarship funds for any semester and all following semesters will be forfeited if students do not enroll in and have their attendance recorded in 12 or more credit hours.
Conditions for Renewal S uccessfully complete 12 or more DMACC credit hours during any semester in which student is receiving the scholarship
M aintain a 3.5 cumulative GPA at DMACC M aintain Good Standing in the DMACC Honors Program. Good standing requires successful completion of one discipline course for Honors credit each semester that the student receives the scholarship, completion of HON 100 with a B or above during the student’s first semester in the Honors Program, and completion of HON 200 with a B or above the student’s final semester in the Honors Program.
What You Need to Apply To be eligible for a Valedictorian Scholarship, the following materials must be submitted to the DMACC Office of Admissions by a priority deadline of July 25, 2016, or 30 days prior to the beginning of the Fall semester:
A pplication to DMACC as an in-state student A pplication to the DMACC Honors Program as a valedictorian O fficial Iowa high school transcript indicating class rank as number one, or other proof of valedictorian status from student’s high school D MACC must be the first college the student attends after receiving his or her Iowa high school diploma
Students are still eligible for a Valedictorian Scholarship if they: Attend summer school at DMACC prior to enrolling at DMACC as a full-time student
P articipate in dual enrollment/dual credit classes from any college before receiving a high school diploma S tudents may qualify if they have graduated from high school within the past four years S ummer sessions are NOT covered by the scholarship
DMACC Honors Program Offers Advanced Academic Studies Valedictorian scholars automatically qualify for DMACC’s Honors Program. Honors Program curriculum provides increased academic rigor and prepares students to thrive at transfer institutions and in the workplace. Honors students also receive:
A ccess to speaker series, off-campus events, and guest speakers O pportunities to present their research at conferences P articipation in leadership and experiential learning projects D esignation of Honors credit on DMACC transcript and DMACC diploma E arly registration for DMACC classes A bility to apply DMACC Honors credits toward completion of Honors Program requirements at Iowa State University and the University of Iowa
