Fills the need for retired seniors looking for an entry level of fitness. Pickleball is the first sport many retiring seniors have ever played. Socialization – fun times with friends. Does not require great athleticism but can escalate to high, competitive levels. People new to pickleball learn the game quickly and begin enjoying the sport in a very short period of time. Creates excellent cardiovascular workout. Develops good eye-hand coordination and reflexes. Improves stamina. Less strenuous and taxing on the body than higher impact sports. The relatively compact size of the court makes it less daunting for those who do not play sports often, or who have injuries, and the light weight of the ball and paddle also decrease the risk of impact-related injuries. Pickleball with friends incites laughter, the perfect medicine for the mind and body; a powerful antidote to stress, pain and conflict.
