A meeting of the Public Safety/Public Works Committee was held Thursday, June 16, 2016 at 6:45 p.m. in the Municipal Complex Council Chambers. PRESENT: ABSENT: ALSO PRESENT:

Council Members Robinson, Fifarek, and Klitzke Mayor Stegeman (excused) Council Members Jones, Nelson, Plemel, and Pohlmann; Rob Jamo, Kathy Brofka, Val Mellon, Susan Johnson, Ken Conners, and Lisa Reed

Agenda. A motion was made by Council Member Klitzke and seconded by Council Member Fifarek to add the Emergency Rescue Squad proposal for services to the agenda and to approve the amended agenda for the meeting. This motion was carried unanimously. Minutes. A motion was made by Council Member Klitzke and seconded by Council Member Fifarek to approve the minutes of the meeting held April 12, 2016. This motion was carried unanimously. Waterfront Festival Fireworks Display. A motion was made by Council Member Klitzke and seconded by Council Member Fifarek to

recommend to City Council that Council approve the permit for the Waterfront Festival fireworks display on August 6th. This motion was carried unanimously. Waterfront Festival Special Liquor License. A motion was made by Council Member Klitzke and seconded by Council Member Fifarek to recommend to City Council that Council adopt the Resolution of the Membership or Board of Directors Authorizing the Application for Special License for the Waterfront Festival from August 4th through the 7th. This motion was carried unanimously. 14th Avenue Reconstruction (21st Street to West Drive). A motion was made by Council Member Klitzke and seconded by Council Member Fifarek to recommend to City Council that Council waive the bid policy and approve hiring U. P. Engineers and Architects to prepare additional final bid documents for the proposed reconstruction of 14th Avenue from 21st Street to West Drive at the cost of $8,000 with the work to be undertaken after July 1st. This motion was carried unanimously. Request from Dexter’s to Close a Portion of 8th Street on August 27th. A motion was made by Council Member Klitzke and seconded by Council Member Fifarek to recommend to City Council that Council approve the request from T&N of Menominee, which is Dexter’s at 736 Tenth Avenue, to close off 8th Street from 10th Avenue north approximately 84 feet from 7 a.m. until 10 p.m. on Saturday, August 27th . This motion was carried unanimously. Street Lights on 13th Street (48th to 56th Avenues). City Engineer Mellon was asked to present three options to the committee at their August meeting. The committee will review the options and make a recommendation to the Finance Committee for funding sources.

Public Works/Public Safety Committee June 16, 2016 Page Two Emergency Rescue Squad Proposal for Services. The Emergency Rescue Squad proposed providing Basic Life Support Services through June 30, 2017 and asked the City for a $10,000 contribution. A motion was made by Council Member Klitzke and seconded by Council Member Fifarek to recommend to City Council that Council approve a budget amendment in the amount of $5,000 to the 2016-2017 Operating Budget for the contribution. The motion and second were withdrawn. Adjourn. The meeting was adjourned. /skj
