[email protected] This course will present key principles in global health and address cross-cutting issues including: ● disease surveillance and outbreak investigation ● prevention and control strategies for health promotion and disease prevention ● proximal and distal determinants of health, including social, cultural and political determinants ● management and planning of global health programs; infrastructure and workforce needs ● complex humanitarian emergencies (e.g., refugees) and disaster relief ● role and involvement of different actors/stakeholders in global health ● research ethics in developing countries Class exercises will focus on challenging global health problems, and strategies to address them. Approximately half of the illustrations of global health problems will be infectious diseases, and half will be non-infectious diseases.
