Emerson​ ​is​ ​a​ ​suburban​ ​community​ ​located​ ​in​ ​northern​ ​Bergen​ ​County,​ ​New​ ​Jersey.​ ​Emerson Junior-Senior​ ​High​ ​School​ ​offers​ ​a​ ​comprehensive​ ​program​ ​of​ ​studies​ ​with​ ​strong​ ​preparation​ ​for​ ​a challenging​ ​college​ ​experience.​ ​The​ ​academic​ ​program​ ​is​ ​complemented​ ​by​ ​a​ ​full​ ​range​ ​of​ ​elective courses​ ​with​ ​opportunity​ ​for​ ​career​ ​concentrations.​ ​Emerson​ ​students​ ​have​ ​access​ ​to​ ​Advanced Placement​ ​courses​ ​as​ ​well​ ​as​ ​study​ ​at​ ​the​ ​Honors​ ​(H)​ ​and​ ​College​ ​Preparatory​ ​(CP)​ ​level.​ ​ ​Honors​ ​level courses​ ​are​ ​available​ ​for​ ​each​ ​academic​ ​subject​ ​with​ ​the​ ​exception​ ​of​ ​Algebra​ ​1​ ​and​ ​United​ ​States History​ ​2​ ​(only​ ​AP​ ​US​ ​History​ ​is​ ​offered).​ ​ ​Students​ ​entering​ ​their​ ​senior​ ​year​ ​are​ ​eligible​ ​to​ ​apply​ ​for Independent​ ​Study​ ​and​ ​Option​ ​Two​ ​credit​ ​to​ ​explore​ ​personal​ ​academic​ ​interests​ ​under​ ​the​ ​mentorship of​ ​a​ ​faculty​ ​member​ ​or​ ​local​ ​agency.​ ​With​ ​its​ ​broad​ ​variety​ ​of​ ​academic,​ ​extracurricular​ ​and athletic-based​ ​offerings,​ ​Emerson​ ​continues​ ​to​ ​offer​ ​a​ ​highly​ ​personalized,​ ​ethnically​ ​diverse,​ ​secondary school​ ​experience.​ ​Collectively,​ ​Emerson​ ​Junior-Senior​ ​High​ ​School​ ​cultivates​ ​habits​ ​that​ ​lead​ ​to​ ​a fulfilling,​ ​successful​ ​life​ ​for​ ​its​ ​students Emerson​ ​students​ ​and​ ​teachers​ ​use​ ​the​ ​Google​ ​Applications​ ​for​ ​Education​ ​(GAFE)​ ​platform​ ​within​ ​their classrooms​ ​for​ ​organization,​ ​communication,​ ​and​ ​planning.​ ​Students​ ​have​ ​access​ ​to​ ​Chromebooks through​ ​a​ ​1:1​ ​program​ ​for​ ​grades​ ​7-12.​ ​EJSHS​ ​students​ ​collaborate​ ​with​ ​teachers,​ ​classmates,​ ​and real-world​ ​professionals​ ​to​ ​create​ ​dynamic​ ​learning​ ​experiences,​ ​as​ ​a​ ​result​ ​students​ ​are​ ​capable​ ​digital learners​ ​and​ ​model​ ​digital​ ​citizens.​ ​In​ ​addition​ ​to​ ​their​ ​digital​ ​literacy,​ ​EHS​ ​students​ ​exhibit​ ​the​ ​qualities of​ ​teamwork​ ​and​ ​accountability​ ​that​ ​translate​ ​to​ ​personal​ ​and​ ​professional​ ​success.
