Inspection of equipment prior to competition date by qualified personnel from Singapore Canoe Federation. Physically checking all connections are secured. Using cones to cover exposed hooks and stubs. Use of red and white tape to highlight areas where injuries are likely.

Ensure all are briefed on the safety procedures and make sure they are properly hydrated and to wear light clothing. Ensure all are rested in shaded areas when they are not training in the water. There will be consistent, hourly reminders to remind students to hydrate.

All canoeists to have at least a one star certification which is declared at the Baseline Safety Standards. All canoeist must wear a PFD during rowing. All teacher-in-charge are to brief the safety requirement to the canoeists. This includes proper and sufficient sleep/rest, sufficient hydration and nutrition.
