READING We will read articles that give information about how to build things. Bridges and ships will be a focus. As we read, graphic organizers will be completed that detail cause and effect. Decoding words with two syllables will be practiced. We will identify stable syllables as in puzzle, puddle, title. Help your child listen to the parts and determine where the word is divided. We will also review adding ed and ing endings to verbs. Prepositions and prepositional phrases will be identified in sentences.
ABC COUNTDOWN
Our study of telling time to the hour and half hour will continue. While it is easier to read time on digital clocks, it is important to understand how to tell time with analog clocks. The children will develop a better understanding of the passage of time when using analog clocks. Our next chapter will develop understanding of completing and interpreting picture and bar graphs.

The 'oi' and 'oy' spellings will be studied this week. "Oy" is usually used at the end of words. Make a list of words with these two spellings. Complete a word sort by writing the words in the correct columns.
