Indirect Speech

Simple Present (S+V1) “I want ice cream”, said the boy.

Simple Past (S+V2) The boy said that he wanted ice cream.

Present Continuous [S+is/am/are+(Verb)ing] “I am waiting for Raju”, said Rahul.

Past Continuous[S+was/were+(Verb) ing] Rahul said that he was waiting for Raju.

Present Perfect(S+has/have+V3) “I have finished my work:, said Binu.

Past Perfect (S+had+V3) Binu said that he had finished his work.

Present Perfect Continuous [S+has/have+been+(Verb)ing] “I have been reading for three hours”,she said.

Past Perfect Continuous [S+had+been+(Verb)ing] She said that she had been reading for three hours.

Simple Past (S+V2) He said, “I woke up late”.

Past Perfect (S+had+V3) He said that he had woken up late.

Past Continuous [S+was/were+(Verb) ing] He said, “I was sleeping then”.

Past Perfect Continuous [S+had+been+(Verb)ing] He said that he had been sleeping then.

Future He said, “I will answer the phone”.

Conditional He said that he would answer the phone.

Conditional I said, “I would like to do it myself”.

Conditional I said that I would like to do it myself.
